Research and Planning: Genre

Before discussing with my group what our story was for our film, i researched genres. This was so i had knowledge on the different types of film we could produce, and maybe explore completely new genres. Here are some examples of what i studied:

Romance:
A typical romance usually involves boy meets girl, maybe an obsticle as to why they can't be together. In this type of film, you assume that there will be a happy ever after, just like a fairytail. These include films such as; (500) Days of Summer, It's a Wonderful Life and What Women Want.

Horror:
A horror film is there to make the audience feel scared and even disgusted by what they see. They usually feature deaths, killers and violence; therefore, there is a lot of blood and gore! Some might be so frightened that it makes them psyically jump; however, most horrors are surreal and supernatural. Examples of this genre are: The Ring, Saw films, and The Strangers.

Action:
The main parts to a typical action film is things like: guns, girls, big explosions, high energy, fast cars, constant loud noises, many chase scenes, fast camera pans and there is always a wanted bad guy. Examples are films like: The Matrix, James Bond films and The Dark Knight.

Science Fiction:
This genre usually features things like: heroes, villains, aliens, monsters, distant planets, nuclear havoc, missions, futuristic settings and technology. Examples are: Invasions of the Bo
dy Snatchers, The Matrix and Star Wars.
